1 cup butter-divided
1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
3 eggs
Cut 1/2 butter into 1 cup of flour, sprinkle with 2 Tbls water and mix with fork, round into a ball. Divide dough in half, pat into two 12x3 strips and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup of water. Bring to boil, then remove from heat. Add extract and beat in one cup of flour quickly, to prevent lumps. When smooth, add eggs one at a time, beating until smooth. Spread evenly over each strip of pastry dough. Bake at degrees for minutes. Frost and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
