Mountain Dew Apple Dumpling Bake

2 tubes (8 oz each) refridgerated crescent rolls
2 medium apples-peeled and cored
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine-melted
3/4 cup Mountain Dew
cinnamon
vanilla ice cream (opt)

Unroll crescent rolls and seperate dough into 16 triangles. Cut each apple into 8 wedges. Wrap a crescent roll around each wedge. Place in a 9 x 13 baking dish. In a bowl, combine the sugar and butter; sprinkle over rolls. Slowly pour the soda pop around the rolls (not over...and do not stir). Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 35-40 min. or until golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
