Peach Pecan Upside Down Crockpot Cake

1 can (8 1/2 oz) peach slices
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 Tbls butter or margarine-melted
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 pkg (16 oz) pound cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix
1/2 tsp almond extract
whipped cream (opt)

Grease a 7 1/2 inch cake pan or baking dish that will fit in your crockpot. Drain peaches, reserving 1 Tbls of juice. Combine reserved juice, brown sugar and butter in the prepared pan. Arrange peach slices on top of brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle with pecans. Prepare cake mix according to directions, stir in almond extract. Spread over peach mixture. Cover pan with lid or foil (make foil handles) Cover and cook on high for 3 hours. Remove pan from crockpot using foil handles. Cool pan uncovered on wire rack for 10 minutes. Run narrow spatula around sides of pan and invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm with whipped cream if desired.
